Ant-Man

I saw Ant-Man in IMAX a few days ago and it was awesome. I know that some of us didn't really know Ant-Man, but want to see any and everything that Marvel puts out and some of us are die-hard fans since day 1. I think it doesn't matter what kind of fan you are, you will like this movie. When it starts, you wonder where it is gonna go, but you're not bored. When it picks up, you are happy that you saw it. I do wonder what it would have looked like if Edgar Wright stayed on as a writer/director. I've heard that they have kept Edgar Wright's version mostly the same, but I still wonder what would have been. Ant-Man is funny, you can enjoy watching it by yourself or with others. If you took your kids to see Avengers, you can definitely take them to see this.

The cast is wonderful. Paul Rudd makes a great Ant-Man/Scott Lang and although his friend and associates are a bit one-dimensional, they are still very funny. Michael Douglas is Michael Douglas, so of course he makes a great Hank Pym and Evangeline Lily a.k.a Tauriel from The Hobbit franchise is great as Dr. Pym's daughter Hope Van Dyne, but she's still playing a strong female character who gets set in her place by the men (until Ant-Man 2 comes out, hopefully that will make the difference? Wishful thinking? *Kind of a spoiler alert?*) Michael Peña is Luis a.k.a Ant-Man's bestie. Although, he's playing a one-dimensional character, he has some of the funniest parts. Corey Stoll is the villain a.k.a Yellowjacket/Darren Cross. *SPOILER ALERT* The villain for most of the movie is Darren Cross, but when you get close to the end, the villain is Yellowjacket. It doesn't take away from the movie and the miniature fight scenes are epic.

The Ant-Man suit is spot-on. It looks exactly like it does in the comics. I enjoyed watching it and already feel like I want to buy it. You can watch it in 2-D or IMAX and it will be good, regardless. It was kind of nice to see a stand-alone Marvel movie and have a tiny bit of an Avengers break, even though Ant-Man is still linked to the Avengers. I was also not upset that *SPOILER ALERT* Falcon is in this movie. It was really awesome. * LAST SPOILER ALERT* Don't forget to watch for something after the end credits roll. 8/10
