Preacher on AMC!

I did not read the Preacher comics, but I still wanted to see what this show was about. It's straight-up blasphemous, but if you're not easily offended, it is a really good show. The action starts off right away and it's very strong. It does drag out in parts to build up the story-line, but it is well worth it. Dragging out the first season of a show doesn't bother me because it's building up the show. Preacher is about a guy named Jesse Custer who is a preacher and used to do some not so great things. His father was a preacher with a church that Jesse ended up inherited and he feels that he has to follow in his father's footsteps.

Tulip is Jesse's ride-or-die almost former girlfriend. They grew up together and have a kind of love/hate relationship. Tulip doesn't think Jesse is meant to be a preacher and even more than that, she wants him to help get revenge on a person that wronged them. Cassidy is a wisecracking, nice, drinking and drugging Irish vampire, who ends up being Jesse's best friend. Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy slowly become connected and by the end of the season, are *spoiler alert* road tripping together.

The whole small town of Annville is full of people who act like they are living righteously, but everyone is a sinner in this town. There's a lot of people who have their backstories told and you find out who's good, who's bad and who's trying their best. Preacher, a.k.a. Jesse Custer, has an internal struggle about if he's doing the right thing being a preacher and trying to lead people. He also wants to know if God is real to the point that he wants to *spoiler alert* find him and talk to him personally. While he is going through these struggles, he happens to get a power that may be a gift or a curse, but he definitely isn't supposed to have it.

There are two angels, who have a child-like mentality, and were somehow given the task of watching over the power that Preacher has. The power, called Genesis, escaped and looked for a worthy host. It found its host in Preacher. The angels try everything in their power to get the power back, including *spoiler alert* using an iconic, cool character from the comics that is currently residing down under and I don't mean Australia. One of the parts that drags is building up the story-line for the cool character known as the Saint of Killers. You see tiny bits of his story-line in most episodes and it all comes together and makes sense in the end.

This show has comedy, action, weird, crazy and outrageous stuff going on. When you get to the end of the season, you get excited for what will happen in the next season because you only find out a few things of what will officially happen, while everything else is left in the air. After wrapped up story-lines, something major and crazy happens, and I for one, can't wait to see what happens next. Rating: 9/10
